Rome was considered to be one of the greatest civilizations in the history of mankind. Being a predecessor to our modern civilization, it was responsible for introducing a lot of the features and qualities that make up our modern day Western civilization. Using your notes from class and the Internet, effectively answer the following statement and question:
1) Which feature/quality that was passed from Rome do you feel is MOST important in our modern society?
2) Of all of the facts that you have learned about ancient Rome, which feature do you enjoy most?

1) I think taxes is important...Taxes are how the members of our society pay for services we all use. Many people complain, and sometimes the tax can be excessive or for questionable reasons, but if you depend on the police or fire to protect your home, drive on roads, send your kids to school, or use any of the other tax supported services provided by our government, then you can't say that taxes aren't necessary. Taxes help pay for what we as Americans use. How those taxes are used is another question.
